HYDRO-BOT

The solution we created is a solar and wind-powered robot that detects cyanobacterial blooms in water using a photo sensor to detect light emissions from reproducing algae, skims the surface to collect it, and stores the cyanobacteria in the robot to eventually be harnessed as biofuel. This option combines the autonomy of a robot that will make our solution effective on a large scale, the physical controls that eradicate algal blooms without harming the surrounding ecosystem, and the ability to harness energy (and even profit) from the collected cyanobacteria. Additionally, the robot is completely self-powered by wind and solar, ensuring that it doesn't add to the problem at hand. The locations of these energy generators can be placed on top of the robot and users may be able to remove either generator for certain maintenance.
